AP Moller Maersk reportedly has around 20 ships out of service in the Red Sea. Maersk said it would adjust routes to southern Africa.
According to the Daily Economic News, Maersk responded to reporters: "We are deeply concerned about the heightened security situation in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. On Thursday, the company said its ship, the Maersk Gibraltar, was attacked by a missile while en route from Salalah, Oman, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The crew and ship were reportedly safe.
The Houthis claimed that they conducted a military operation against a Maersk container ship and directly hit it with a drone. The Houthis made this claim in a statement but did not release any evidence.
