Heavy Lift Logistics Showcase: Shipping a Massive Mining Ball Mill

SPEED INT'L recently engineered and executed the complex heavy-lift logistics for a massive Industrial Ball Mill. As a critical component for the mining and mineral processing sector, transporting this colossal equipment required rigorous engineering, precise calculation, and flawless heavy-lift execution from inland transit to ocean freight.

1. Inland Heavy Haul & Precision OOG Survey

The sheer volume and concentrated weight of the ball mill's cylindrical body demand specialized inland transport solutions. Our engineering team deployed multi-axle hydraulic modular trailers to ensure optimal weight distribution and road safety. Prior to port entry, our surveyors conducted strict Out-of-Gauge (OOG) measurements to finalize the lifting and stowage plan, ensuring the cargo’s center of gravity was perfectly calibrated.

2. Heavy Lift Stevedoring & Vessel Stowage

Upon arrival at the terminal, the cargo was received alongside the dedicated break bulk vessel, M/V JIN CHAO. Lifting a heavy ball mill is a high-risk operation that tests a forwarder's heavy-lift capabilities. Coordinated by our experienced port captains, the vessel's heavy-duty ship cranes safely hoisted the colossal cylinder from the trailer.

The equipment was smoothly lowered into the designated cargo hold, followed by rigorous lashing and securing using specialized wire ropes and dunnage to prevent any shifting during the ocean transit.
